Your research will focus on understanding\u00a0how alterations in endothelial cell metabolism\u00a0are linked to their inflammatory phenotype and how these cells\u00a0act as active\u00a0immunomodulators\u00a0in cardiovascular disease.\u00a0You will explore the role\u00a0of endothelial immune\u00a0checkpoint proteins(ICPs) in regulating T-cell activation\u00a0and macrophage function\u00a0in atherosclerotic\u00a0plaques. This\u00a0innovative approach\u00a0aims to uncover new\u00a0insights into the pathogenesis of atherosclerosis and identify potential\u00a0therapeutic target.<\/p>\n<p><strong>About your role<\/strong><br \/>\nAs a PhD student, you will conduct cutting-edge research combining wet lab and dry lab techniques in equal measure.<\/p>\n<p>In the wet lab:\u00a0you will perform experiments using 3D organ-on-chip models, conduct Seahorse Flux analysis, and carry out immunoblotting and qPCR analysis. You will also work with animal models and prepare samples for metabolomics and RNA-sequencing.<br \/>\nIn the dry lab:\u00a0you will focus on bioinformatics and data analysis, with a strong emphasis on (single-cell) RNA-seq analysis.<br \/>\nYour main goal will be to uncover novel therapeutic targets by investigating the crosstalk between metabolism-driven inflammatory responses and immunomodulatory properties of endothelial cells.
